Re: Cylinder Head Casting Number .

According to the Honda Engine Overhaul Manual, the only difference to the twin cam cylinder heads is between cat & non cat engines. The difference lies in the design of the camshafts [different valve timing] so you want either an early head that's pre-cat or the later head. The two engines had a dif...

Re: Standing water

Do the later K Series Engines have coil packs & thus no distributor or a separate coil?

Behind the block sounds like a daft location for a coil? :S

Re: 25 GTi tyres

:laughing2 Yes I didn't mean to suggest that the cost/performance trade off had been ignored, just that an enthusiast driver might place greater emphasis on performance. Ford have fitted a duff Head Gasket to one of their fast Focus for example and there are examples from the Ministry of 'buy cheap/...

Re: Standing water

On my M Reg 414 it's sunk into the nearside wheel arch panel, just behind the headlamp unit below the slam panel.

Re: 25 GTi tyres

I expect that we've all read of press cars at vehicle launch events being 'specially prepared' by the factory. So a decent contemporary road test article is probably the way to go?

The cynic in me suspects that the bean counters bought in bulk at the cheapest price. :)

Re: Rover 214 SEI 16V Guide price up and running?

The original poster hasn't been around since the end of November, I hope he hasn't scrapped it!

It's a very bad idea taking one of these cars to anybody who isn't familiar with them and that includes Honda garages, but I won't derail the thread.

Re: Another Rover myth?

Most of that sounds like made up waffle to me; who exactly mixes up traction control with a limited slip diff? The criticism I 've read is that the Torsen isn't a proper LSD which the car needs. Possibly with standard suspension the car struggles with all that power; I've never read of turbo lag bei...

Re: 216 Fuel Pump

Just to butt in here, I believe that the electric pump sits in a swirl pot within the fuel tank, which is fed via the return from the fuel rail, this moving fuel around the pump is designed to keep the pump cool.

Ok an oil change sound about ready,as she has not run much in the last seven years. Would you recommend a flushing agent first say STP ® Engine Flush 62450EN 450ml George Not unless the oil is very dirty and hasn't been changed when it should have been. You don't move the vehicle with a flushing ag...

Make sure it will still pass it's MOT!

This may well be a testable function during this new MOT Test, it's better to be sure before hand, than failed afterward! :D
