Re: A bit of TLC with Turtle Wax Black in a Flash

The rear suspension and consequently the fuel tank, spare wheel well and exhaust are all different on an R3. (25). The suspension was simplified to accommodate everything within the shorter rear overhang and shorter wheelbase. (The simpler suspension was also cheaper to build, had less to go wrong a...

Re: Hello everyone!

Yes, the Advantage. All the looks of the MG but without the performance! And hideous white lattice wheels as well. A neighbour of mine had the Maestro 1.6 Advantage. Somehow the body coloured "Austin" grille never looked quite right on either the Advantage or the 1.3 Special. A version of the MG EFi...

Re: New R8 3DR rear quater (Portugese seller)

The RH refers to right hand side or to us near side. The rear quarter panel wouldn't be any different between right hand drive and left hand drive.

Re: Matthew Williamson (designer) Rover 25

I have a press photo of it somewhere. It was just a marketing exercise, as in all advertising is good advertising, but I agree with you, it is hideous!

There is a great article by Jonathan Living on how to change the headlining on an R8 in the current edition of The Viking.

How about the boot light? It would be easy to eliminate by simply taking the bulb out.

Re: Ignition light stays on

No, Jonathan is referring to the MFU that controls the ignition barrel light and the interior light delay is often available for around £15 on e bay!

Re: Rover 200 wedge seats

The cabriolet, coupe and Tourer were updated in June 96 to incorporate the R3 200 dash. The 1.6 Honda engine was replaced by the K series and various trim and spec changes took place. This was because the R8 200 3 & 5 Dr hatch and the R8 400 4 dr saloon had ceased production in 1995 to be replaced b...

Re: Rover 400 HH/R 90-sec launch video now on YouTube

Put simply BMW didn't want HH/R competing with their own products and therefore they moved away from emphasising the high tech, good performance and handling to comfort, ride and "traditional" values of wood and leather. The ultimate incarnation of that was the "Relax it's a Rover" strap line. I can...

Re: Rover 400 HH/R 90-sec launch video now on YouTube

I never did understand the HH/R launch advert. Rover had changed advertising agencies since the time of the R8 launch and it shows! It is still good to see it though.
