Re: strange noise on my Portuguese 3 door 1.6 honda engined GTI

Both my 216 GSis make the whooping noise you are talking about (almost like they're pining for attention). It only happens when they're stationary and although regular, it doesn't happen every day. I believe it is the fuel tank depressurising through a valve of some sort. It's more noticeable on a c...

Re: Possible fuel problem.

Coil - Part number FDU1814EVA here: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID002302 No doubt you can find a cheaper one on e-bay. Can't see that it would be multiple plugs failing at the same time. If engine cranks I can't see it being the battery (but it costs nothing to charge it). You would be best to ...

Re: Possible fuel problem.

Had a complete ignition failure a few weeks ago. It was the coil, which sits in the distributor. 30 minute fix. It is more likely to be an electrical failure in the ignition circuit somewhere I think, rather than a fuel pump failure. By the way, it's Fuse 13 for the fuel pump. Hope, for your sake, i...

Re: BCA Auctions

Firstly, I totally agree with Dist . I have bought four cars at BCA auctions - but a long time ago. I never had a problem with any of these experiences. They used to do 2 per week, one day in the afternoon (trade) and another day in the evening (public). I don't know if it's still the same. Always ...

Re: 400 at the cube factory

Not sure I'm going to make it this week but will try. Does anybody know if the 414 front sub-frames will be the same as my 1.6 K series Tourer?

Re: 400 at the cube factory

Are you going for the wings, bonnet and d/s rear door? I'd be interested in those parts but I can't make it until Thursday. It would be good to go for the sub-frames as well and maybe some other bits.

Re: 1989 216 GSi Honda D16 - Engine Stopped Firing

Just the coil (replaced it with an old one from a spare D16 engine). Is Spark Amplifier a different term for Ignition Module? As a matter of interest, is the coil suddenly failing a symptom of some other problem, or the cause in its own right? Why would a coil suddenly give up? and last night I was ...

1989 216 GSi Honda D16 - Engine Stopped Firing

I was driving out of the village last night and the engine just stopped firing. No previous symptoms, it was running perfectly ok and just stopped. When I connected a spare spark plug to one of the HT leads and rested it on the cam cover there was no spark when turning the engine, so I believe this ...

Re: Hallo from Germany

Hi Michael, Welcome to the forum. There are a number of events during the year and we would love to meet you at one of them. Pride of Longbridge is the big event on 11th April 2020 (that's Easter Saturday). This is at Cofton Park, Longbridge, near Birmingham. There is another big event at Gaydon on ...

Re: BL Cars at the Castle - Sat 16/05/2020

Possibly, but I've got an event the following day that requires a lot of preparation. If I can get the prep done by the Friday, I'll probably go, but it's far from certain.

Re: Head Gasket/Oil Ladder Upgrade.

Hi John - I am intending to check the liner heights before I order the kit, but thanks for making the point. I'm not expecting them to be a problem, as far as i know this is a good engine that hasn't had any HG problems. But I won't know until I've got the top off. I'm presuming the strengthened oil...

Head Gasket/Oil Ladder Upgrade.

As a result of receiving a small income tax refund, :D I am now in a position to prepare my replacement engine to put in my very sick Tourer. It’s a K series 1.6 that’s done 64,000 (allegedly). Before I do the engine swap, I am going to do the HG upgrade with the strengthened Oil Ladder and through ...
