The Up side of Lockdown

Let's look for the positives to all this. I'll start the ball rolling.

We may have had our events calendar decimated but at least it will keep the mileage down on our cherished Rovers.

Cheers,

Duncan

Unfortunately I can't go anywhere near mine. They're both self isolating with corroder virus.

Re: Rover 1.6 Coupé - Question Received about overhang

Just bumping this as the person who contacted the club is still awaiting an answer if possible. Can anyone with a coupe do these measurements for the chap please? Thanks, Duncan.

Re: Alternator dumb question

It's easy enough to free up a seized alternator. Perhaps we could do it at the resto show, if you're going?

Re: VIN number.

To quote Johnny 216GSi:-

"The VIN plate is on the near-side central pillar between the front door and rear door. Open the front passenger door and the rear door on the same side and the plate is riveted at the bottom of the pillar and can be clearly seen and read."

Cheers,

Duncan

Re: strange noise on my Portuguese 3 door 1.6 honda engined GTI

Both my 216 GSis make the whooping noise you are talking about (almost like they're pining for attention). It only happens when they're stationary and although regular, it doesn't happen every day. I believe it is the fuel tank depressurising through a valve of some sort. It's more noticeable on a c...

Re: Possible fuel problem.

Coil - Part number FDU1814EVA here: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID002302 No doubt you can find a cheaper one on e-bay. Can't see that it would be multiple plugs failing at the same time. If engine cranks I can't see it being the battery (but it costs nothing to charge it). You would be best to ...

Re: Possible fuel problem.

Had a complete ignition failure a few weeks ago. It was the coil, which sits in the distributor. 30 minute fix. It is more likely to be an electrical failure in the ignition circuit somewhere I think, rather than a fuel pump failure. By the way, it's Fuse 13 for the fuel pump. Hope, for your sake, i...

Re: BCA Auctions

Firstly, I totally agree with Dist . I have bought four cars at BCA auctions - but a long time ago. I never had a problem with any of these experiences. They used to do 2 per week, one day in the afternoon (trade) and another day in the evening (public). I don't know if it's still the same. Always ...

Not sure I'm going to make it this week but will try. Does anybody know if the 414 front sub-frames will be the same as my 1.6 K series Tourer?
