New R8 3DR rear quater (Portugese seller)

#1 Post by Cromp85 » Sun May 10, 2020 5:34 pm

I was googling part numbers and found this:

ALA38122 Bodyside rear 3 Door RH http://www.oliveiravalentimlda.com/epag ... 2FALA38122

As these are NLA in the UK, I thought it worth posting.
The english version of the site lists the price in USD for some reason. In the Portugese its €276.
I can't think why they would stock a RHD car panel :S
My Rovers to date:
1994 Rover 220GSI in Tahiti blue (On the road)
2002 MG ZR 105 in Solar red (On loan)

That could become a pattern for enthusiast-sponsored remanufacture!

The RH refers to right hand side or to us near side. The rear quarter panel wouldn't be any different between right hand drive and left hand drive.

It looks like the left hand side to me as well but the is not fuel filler flap as I guess this is because it is for a left-hand drive car. I have two right-hand side panels and one left-hand side. A second left-hand side is needed being either a repair panel or a panel of a mint car to be able to reproduce these. The missing fuel filler means this one would need to be the reference panel, not the press panel assuming it is the left-hand panel and they have not used the wrong picture. the part number needs to be check.

It's a right-hand part. the photo is an optical illusion. Click on it to zoom in and you'll see you're looking at the inside of the panel, complete with it's original Rover part sticker.

As it's a RH, it won't have the fuel filler cut-out, as they DIDN'T change the whole fuelling and exhaust system just for LH drive cars!

That's the entire side though. I haven't checked with photos, but maybe, unlike the fuel filler, the radio antenna aperture did swap sides?

Did zoom in but my eyes just won't see it the way you suggest BUT I can see some foam on the sharp inner edge of the boot lid profile which confirms its a Right hand side. Funny how I still can't see it despite knowing it!

Fuel filler point stands true too (by the way, even I would never contemplate the filler swapping for left hand drive ha ha). Cheers gents.
