Mine is the same basic spec 214 but in azure blue with a navy blue interior. It's a strange spec with front+rear spoilers but basic trim it doesn't even have a top tint windscreen .

I'd prefer it without the rear spoiler. Apart from looking an afterthought, it's another, far too cosy, home for tinworms to breed!

Which advert did you follow up, just out of interest? It would be nice to think this club's forum brought it to your attention - was that the case?

You will see more of the car on here but there is very little that needs doing to it.

I intend to use it lightly, maybe 600 or 700 miles a year and take it to a couple of shows each summer.

I watched the eBay auctions and contacted the seller after the end of the auction but the death of my mother meant all thought of classic cars were forgotten.

Then I contacted them again via the Gumtree ad and negotiated a deal.

I have been looking at cars highlighted by this forum for over a year and this one was right for me

We do know most of the cars personally that are for sale so can usually tell you the history on them and nothing suits rovers like white.

I agree that it's a great colour if your local problem is bird c**p . But my vote goes to Flame Red!
I do rate the contrasting black of the glassed area, and it works just as well on the 5-door as the 3. The result of some considered design decisions, before the corporate design rules were changed to "Save Money!".

Raider: Is this your first experience of strapping on an R8? If so, does it live up to expectations?

Most of my cars have been either white or red.

As regards previous experience of these cars -

I had a brand new flame red 414Si as a company car back in 1990 and absolutely loved it. Driving this one brought it all back Love the small things like orange dashboard illumination

Really clear instruments display too. The car drove really well, in fact it felt like a new car
