Newly joined and already feeling at home, the forum format is the same a used by the Metro Owners Group.

I came across 'Foxy' by chance while looking for a ZR or ZS. I've been back into Minis since 2009 and until recently used one as a daily driver, but a problematic restoration, a new grandchild to transport and concern of continued outside parking starting the problems again I decided to move on. I'd seen an immaculate ZS parked in the village and it got me thinking.

Several months of looking, and a realisation that MGs have generally have had a hard life, made me think I would never find one. All the ones that looked reasonable online were miles away, I live in the Northeast. Finally a couple that looked worth a look came up and I was able to combine it with a visit to the Morris 1000 National Rally, now that club knows how to organise a weekend.

Unfortunately/fortunately the MGs were not as good as they looked. 25/ZRs (R3?) seem to suffer from wheelarch corrosion much more so than 45/ZSs (HH/R?). But lo and behold they had this 45 in stock. One owner, 27k on the clock, and other than minor corner scuffs unmarked exterior and interior. The previous owner even sent me all his service invoices before I completed the deal.

The car has been a revelation. I never rated the cars when they were new, mainly because of the recurrent problems of MG Rover and their bashing by the press. My friends and nieghbours have all commented favourably on her condition and looks, and on her comfort.

Other than full service, including all belts due to age, all its needed is a replacement alternator and a period radio.

I've done 3000mls in her and would have no worry about long trips, but my Jag is slightly more comfortable.

Looking down the gallery posts I couldn't see a 45, so hopefully this is the first more to come. I trawled through the discussion on expanding the club to include other versions of the 200/400 range and I'm really glad the members went for it. I was looking for a club and discussion with Howard
at the NEC convinced me.

Long may he club continue.

I hope these links work or this post will look a bit sad.
