That's a really nice colour, especially with the grey bumpers.

What do you use on the bumpers to bring them out so nicely?

Well first of all because it's always been garaged the bumpers stayed dark grey. Sunlight, uv light fades plastic to a lighter colour. Then I always wipe them over with autoglymm rubber and vinyl polish for shows.

A good dollop of silicone spray on grey, dried out bumpers is a good start too, then treat with what he said above me. :D

How much do these cars usually go for second hand?

There are not too many GTis around as they were not big sellers when new. They were the top end of the 5door range and if you wanted sporty/quick there was a 3door as well.

A rough car may be only a few hundred but a usable car is likely to be approaching a grand now and car in the condition of John's twice that it more.... if you can find one being sold.
