so defo want to stay with the original d16a9 engine

That sounds about right. My old 416 (SOHC) was pre-cat but my later 216 did have a cat.

That cabby is a M [95] It's the Honda DOHC with a Catalyst exhaust fitted. The earlier non cat engines have different valve timing and thus different cam shafts fitted according to my Rover [Honda] engine overhaul manual. That as far as I'm aware is the major [only?] differences between the engines.

yep of the 4 cabbys i managed to find all are d16a8 engines :( still waiting to hear about the gti's in the scrapyard

@JOHNDQ one on ebay called becrow dismantlers who had a cabby up and i messaged him he said he also had 2 216 gtis (waiting to hear back), also theres another one but its offline i'd have to find the name again as have been calling around many

and headlights and original radio. thats why ideally im looking for whole donor car with d16a9 then i can take other bits off it i might need

Thanks, no not after any of those bits did have a radio but unfortunately sold that few weeks back

Be interested to hear more about the GTis. They’re rare these days, and really shouldn’t be in scrapyards unless they’re shot to pieces.

Not necessarily. Seen plenty of perfectly serviceable R8’s in scrapyards because the owners either can’t be bothered selling them or they think they are worthless.

If I remember correctly, the block from the single cam and twin cam D series engines is the same - so the head from the twin cam can be swapped over
Out in the desert with 2 old Jeeps and a Landrover D2.
