Rover 200 wedge seats

#1 Post by mo » Wed Feb 25, 2009 12:19 am

I was wondering if anyone knew what seats are a direct replacement for the old shape 200?

I remember being told that the bubble 200 seats will fit, but is this true? If so, what about the ZR?

Also, will the seats out of a newer 400 or ZS fit?

I ve SEi seats in mine at the moment, which are ok, but they really hurt me right leg when I am on the road for longer than about 30 mins :sad .

'Bubble' 200 (and 25 and therefore ZR) front seats will fit straight in, but there are major differences with the rear seats. (for a start, the later cars have a third inertia real seatbelt in the back)

Not sure about 400/45/ZS.

Just resurrecting this because:

I have a 96 R8 (saloon) and am considering replacing the interior. The original is fine, it's just to see if something else would look good. I recently bought another R8 with what looked like beige leather but is actually a bit darker (tan) plus the drivers seat appears to have been restitched with sisal!

Just wondering how much work the HHR generation require to swap over. Is it simply a few hours changing rails and mountings or are they different in width and shape preventing them from even fitting in (rears likely the sticking point).

Any info welcome...cheers

If you just need new fronts, MGF/TF seats might be worth a look. They only need the base frame changing to fit in the R8/R3 cars and come in a variety of colours.
I can't comment on HHR seats as i have never tried to fit any.

Thanks. Was hoping to change all of the seats (and interior) hence the donor car. Was going to swap door cards, dash, console but the darkness of the leather seats is a little less appealing in real life than it looked in the photos!!

Hoping some lighter coloured seats will better compliment the door cards, dash and so on.

Thanks for the offer. Are they just the fronts or full set? How much repair/renovation do they need and where abouts are you?

I know: questions, questions, questions!

I am in Scunthorpe and happy to collect and agree a price if they are suitable too.

Rears are tidy, no rips or tears but they have mould on them.

The drivers bolsters are good, oh and the cobwebs are free. :laughing2

We may be in business providing you're in no rush. Under normal circumstances, I visit family in St Helens so when that's back on, I would at least come and have a look.

How does that sound?

I recall seeing an R8 Cabbie for sale on ebay sometime back & it had a full 25 interior & dash in it.

Obviously I don't know what's involved but it looks like it can be done.

Thanks for replies. I'm taking from the last two posts that the Cabriolet has the later dash (am I right in thinking this is also in later tourers?)

I think the donor car I have has enough bits for me to swap when it comes to interior parts....except the seats! They are just took dark (maybe they are just grubby - may try a clean).

Ultimately, it seems that HH/R rear seats are unlikely to fit. Having just read the club magazine which notes that the hatch was the same as the saloon up to the D pillar, was wondering about Cabriolet rear seats. Are they transferable?

The cabriolet, coupe and Tourer were updated in June 96 to incorporate the R3 200 dash. The 1.6 Honda engine was replaced by the K series and various trim and spec changes took place. This was because the R8 200 3 & 5 Dr hatch and the R8 400 4 dr saloon had ceased production in 1995 to be replaced by the HH/R and R3. It was a way of upgrading the remaining models at almost zero cost as it was using parts from the new R3.

Cabby rear seats wont fit different shape , they are are a one off . Ive always found the SEI seats very supportive , are you sure the webbing on the base on yours have not broken , common fault given the age of the rubber and they can be replaced .
