interesting fact about 1990 early cars only 80 survivors by the dvla 39 on the road and 41 sorn , getting very scarce. like the pulsar silver one that the dealer has in pewsey wilts , would have been cheaper to buy that out of auto trader at £450 , in view what i have spent on mine, but we had ours nearly 20 years so part of the family and she has had a full overhaul.

Yes, the 1990s 200s are getting very rare, I have 1990 GTI H Reg, mine just about to go from SORN back to Licensed. MOT booked for 18th March.

Currently, DVLA shows only 5 1990 216GTi's are on the Road, and 11 on SORN, including mine.
See: http://rover-216-gti-web-site.myfreesites.net/

Who owns the 5 GTi's on the road, and what condition are they in?
Anyone know them and are they in the Club?

Will go on the road from the beginning of march when hopefully all the jobs are done.

Well the rover 216gsi is back on the road today after being taxed , first time back on the road for 10 years , the tax disc on the windscreen ran out in 2007.
Still chomping through , jobs, namely :-
1. new motor fitted to passenger side door for the central locking , interestingly later lock units are slightly different from early ones so motor swapped.
2. Window mount regaled on the glass on this door so now goes up and down without sinking one end.
3. Replacement lock put in boot as original worn , now works on key and latch.
4. New hatch cover resprayed in royal blue as original one had collapsed on the ends , side pieces where speakers are resprayed as well, new rear speakers installed as both back ones had disintegrated.
5 . replacement front wooden trim located will replace current one where lacquer has peeled once received.
still to do:-
1 change aerial as current one won't go down
2. Change radiator for brand new one which i have.
3, carry out some stitching repairs to rear leather seats , where stitching has come undone.
4, reglue back headlining which has partially come down.

Then a big clean up, now to get some miles on, just down 114k from new with loads of history , we have probably had it nearly 20 years.

Well been out in the rover today, can't believe how well these cars go. This is the first time back on the road for 10 years and we will have owned it 21 years in fevruary. The motor is zippy and quiet and the car runs really well have had new callipers and discs on the back for the mot. Will now be using it for running around to get a few miles on it and get the rest of the jobs finished off hopefully by christmas then back onto my celica restoration.
Glad i kept it and it avoided going to that great scrap yard in the sky, the smile on my face makes it all worthwhile . Couple of photos out with the dog in our local woods ( can't seem to post photos )

That's R8's for you. I love my new Tourer. Lovely cars to drive.

Bought it at the wrong time of year though - no daylight and it's cold. Looking forward to the spring already so I can spend some time playing on it!
