Hello Everybody,

Have joined as interested in getting a Rover 220 Gsi. I had a dark metallic grey one back in the mid 90's and I have fond memories of driving M79 NOE which last passed an MOT on 5th Dec 2005 when its mileage was just over 100K. Does it still exist?

220 GSi is a rare beast these days. Think I’ve only seen one for sale in the last 2 years.

Welcome. They are rare but always keep looking-they can pop up when you least expect it!

Thanks for the replies. Out of interest what are are highest recorded mileages for a 2 litre T series engine in Rover 200/400? Since the 220GSi every car I've had since has exceeded 100K without significant problem, is it really expecting too much for a Rover to exceed 100K?

Guess I'm just going to have to be patient and wait for a suitable car to turn up.

The T Series engine is very robust and should do 200K without problems but like anything it does depend on how it has been maintained. It is certainly my preferred choice of engine in an R8.

Good to hear that the T-series is reasonably robust, gives me a bit more confidence to take on a higher mileage well maintained car when one becomes available.

There is a spectacularly lovely 420 GSI on eBay that’s done 7k miles at the moment. Looks wonderful!

That one does look rather good. However for myself preference is for the 3 door.
