Bring on the Brembos ! :clapping

No guesses why these brakes don't work. :laughing2

Image

New discs on, lovely !

Image

FAIL, the carriers are fouling on the discs. :slapme

I shaved off as much as I could out of the corners of the carriers to no avail, still don't fit. :bored

Dist suggested that the hubs on my non-ABS 1.6 K Cabby are thinner than the ones off the 220 Turbo
the brakes are off hence the fouling, not sure if I need hubs or some 2mm spacers BEHIND the discs
to fix the issue and centre the disc in the carriers, never had an issue on my non-ABS 25 but it does
have ABS rings so may have ABS hubs so not too sure. :glare

I will prep and prime the carriers again and get them repainted ready when a solution presents itself.

It looks from the photo's that the disk is fouling the inner edge of the carrier?

During later R8 production, possibly around the time that the new 200/400 was introduced the 'top hat height' of the disks changed, that might be your problem. Unless the perimeter of the disk is fouling the calliper too?

Been told two things now.

One, the hubs on my Cabby are thinner as its a non-ABS car, ABS hubs are thicker.

Two, the carriers are for solid, not vented discs.

Any one else confirm this ?

New hubs have arrived so i'll take a proper look at them on Monday or Tuesday but its that time of
the year to put the car to bed and cover it up, will be cleaning it first as its gone green, ill be placing
heat tube behind the rear seats to hopefully keep the damp and mould at bay.

Thanks for the interest mate, the new hubs never arrived, had to get a refund, seller spun
some bull about Royal Mail loosing them even though he said Parcel2Go was the courier,
doubt he even stripped them off the car as he had no tracking numbers, just as well I was
covered by PayPal.

Tried some 3mm spacers but they don't fit inside the disc so I might have to get a machine
shop to machine some custom shims with the correct bolt holes, might be pricey unless one
of you chaps know anyone ?

Seriously tempted to take the original Cabby brakes off my 25 derv now and throw standards
back on that beast.

Anyway, here is new updated photo of my gash brakes. :glare

calipers are looking good and I have done it , got the hubs of a later cabby with 262 solid discs , they are 15mm different from centre of the hub to the caliper bolts and then took the 262 vented set up of my 25 GTI and they fit no problem
, this meant I could put 282mm discs on GTI what a difference . :clapping :clapping

I also put a cabby wheel on GTI and it cleared the bigger disc by about 10mm , but that would be overkill in my opinion.

my original set up on the cabby were solid 238 mm

ps if you still need hubs let me know .

just looked at your pictures of the carrier fouling , will measure my carrier this week , got a funny feeling you need the bigger carriers and not the hubs .
my car is a 94 1.4 so add the smaller disc on , that why I had to change the hub to later ones .

:D

No i dont have , but i know were I can get some but you need to sort out the issue first so you know what to buy .part number stamp on mind are 1407/ 5 and 1407 / 6

I have measured my carrier from the face that bolt to the hub to the slot in the carrier were the disc on yours fouls and I got 14.5mm , the slot in the carrier for the disc is 25 mm and from the face that bolt to hub to the outside of carrier 70 mm .
what size are your disc 262 x ?

hope this helps :D
