Cabbie Restoration Assistance Required

#1 Post by Sir Henry » Sat Mar 07, 2015 9:26 am

After the Winter I took advantage of the first day's sunny weather to drop the top. Unfortunately the nearside hydraulic ram has disengaged from its mooring on the mechanism and just flops around doing nothing constructive. Does anyone have knowledge of any experts on the subject in the South Yorkshire area?

Thanks, old chums.

You mean where the ram mounts to the hood mechanism? It's just held with a 'bolt' and circlip. I may have a spare somewhere...I'll have a dig, if I've got one you can have it for postage

Unfortunately there's a bit more to it. The little 'doohicky' (previous thread) no longer has a ball connector to ... connect to. Also the stepped 'bolt' will not align correctly. I'm getting a bit too fumble fingered to work on this kind of scale these days, so professional help may be required.

Thanks anyway. I'll get back to you if I have to go it alone.

I have a whole spare mechanism in the garage, if you need spare parts it'll be there!

Thanks. I'll have to investigate how it goes together as some of the hinges appear to be riveted.
