Parcel shelf

#1 Post by Clawjaw » Thu Mar 27, 2008 10:45 am

Right, this is the shelf i have in at the moment CLICKY standard original one.

What other shelfs will fit my 1993 220?

The reason i ask is becuse when i do get my car back ill be installing ICE.

The sub and amp will go in the boot. I want to put the 6x9s on the parcel shelf without cutting into it so i bought some 6x9 MDF speaker enclousers which i want on top of the parcel shelf to look like rear head rests. With me so far?

The problem... I can fit the enclosures at the rear of the shelf as its bigger than the front part. What i mean is is that if i use my original idea and have them right at the front the speaker enclousers will cover the hinge and the parcel shelf wont open unless i take the string off the rear to the shelf. (im sure those 2 pieces of string have a name)

I dont want them right at the back as the weight and unevenness of the shelf will not look very nice. So to sum it up.... I want the 6x9 speakers inside the speaker enclousers at the front of the shelf and still want the the string attatched so the shelf opens with the boot.

Anyone got any ideas?

Im asking for the impossible arent i? *laughs*

You can get rear shelf made of MDF and carpeted to look OE. Works in the exact same way as OE too just stronger.

Who makes them?

Hold on, if i took the hinges off the shelf or just placed a piece of wood under the cut that makes it fold in half then the whole thing would lift up with the boot wouldnt it? :S No it wouldnt cus of the clips that keep the front of the shelf down :blushing

Ive got a stealth shelf for sale if youre interested.

Its got holes cut for 6x9s in.

If you look through the window you'd never know there were speakers in the car.

Its one piece though, so doesnt fold in the middle, and you have to leave it down when you open the boot.

Cant remember how much i paid for it, somewhere around 50 quid i think.

Yours for £25 :cool

I can post it, but no idea how much. Its pretty big so may be expensive.
