Rimmers CS gone down hill.

#1 Post by 1234dist » Tue Oct 02, 2018 1:12 pm

In short, bought a rear hub for my 75. Compared pricing between OE and Aftermarket and thought for the sake of £10 i buy OE so there shouldn't be any problems.

Compared the pic and description with what i had and placed the order.

Item arrived and did a side by side comparison and a fairly obvious right away something was wrong.

No ABS ring, although the site clearly shows it with.

Got in contact, with rimmers and after 2hrs on the phone with them, their advice was............

buy the aftermarket one! :slapme :headbanging

but that still left me near £70 out of pocket.

So made arrangements to have the item collected (27/09/18) and was thinking all is well, checked the bank......no refund :glare

Quick email asking when it will be refunded as i had tracking to say it had been delivered and was told it could be 2-3 weeks as it needs to go off to be tested.

What needs testing, it has no abs ring and you sold a part not fit for purpose but i have to wait a month to get my money back.

Luckily on this occasion, i paid via paypal and had set up the dispute almost immediately, but still have to wait until the 12/10/18 for their decision.

Have i been unreasonable in my purchase, return, refund requests?

I don't think so. :mouthshut

Rimmers actually sent me a £100 order twice without even knowing. Didn't even thank me when I informed them of their mistake. Arranged collection and they didn't arrive so order is still here :slapme

They've certainly messed up and confused the exploded drawings.

I've not had any experience with Rimmer Bros before joining the club - in fact I had never heard of them before, so was a total surprise when I found out how easy it was to get some bits (if rather expensive!), so I can't really comment on their previous customer service standard, but my current experience has not left me overjoyed with it.

I had an issue back in July when I was planning to fit a pair of rear drum brake cylinders as I was told that one had been weeping. For anyone who doesn't know, the cylinders are "handed" meaning they cannot be swapped around, as the design of the backplate locating bolt and positioning of the brake pipe fittings and bleed nipples prevent it. When I came to do the job, I found that, despite the boxes being correctly labelled with the different part numbers, they were both the same side - in my case, the RH. I contacted Rimmers and explained the situation and even sent in photos, to confirm that the parts were indeed the same side. They checked on their stock and said that ALL the remaining stock, despite being labelled (as mine had been) with the correct part numbers, were also the same RH side. They were going to get back to their suppliers to find out what had happened. I've heard nothing from them since and I still have 2x RH brake cylinders. Fortunately for me, the weeping cylinder seems to have been a miss-diagnosis, as there has been no further loss of brake fluid from it.

I can confirm I got my money back... :mad

Not from rimmers but from PayPal, fairly easy to get the case won in my favour as they never bothered to respond to any of the comments posted.

Be interested to see what happens in 2-3 weeks when the “supplier” has checked my not fit for purpose part.

Maybe double refund! :mouthshut
