Alternative Insurance

#1 Post by Sir Henry » Sat Mar 10, 2012 11:39 am

Having checked all the online price comparison sites I thought I'd let the broker who arranges the cover on The Old Girl have a punt at the job.

The previous best quote had been £275 not including legal aid or breakdown cover, but he came back with a quote of £286 with those things and more. eg. free windscreen repair if the damage isn't too bad (not all insurances will cover for this) and the breakdown cover includes Home Start and full EU coverage. Not bad for only 2 years NCB. Especially as most insurances don't give NCB on full Classic policies.

The broker is 2Gether and the insurance is with "Classicline". He even does a 'Future Classic' policy for cars that may become classics in the not too distant future on much the same basis as existing 'classic' car insurance.

Just thought you might want to give him a try next time your insurance becomes due.

As my GTi is twenty years old I insure her under a classic policy £111 per year and covers me for 3000 miles. This is for a second car. Pays to shop around! They have a prominent ad' in the back of Classic Car Magazine. :clapping

Not very useful link :sad

Just called 'em up and they were not interested in insuring a '93 Coupe worth £600.

They wouldn't quote even with 7 years NCB and used as a second car.

"Just not a Classic or future classic you see....because it's of low value"

Anybody got any other alternatives ? :mope

I definitely use their services next time when my insurance due because right now i am taking services of PSI company of CA. They take care all of my insurance due dates and inform me before it get renewed. I insured all my household things and vehicle from them. I am fully satisfied with their services they always try to give me best value of insurance claims. Thanks to you for explaining about Classic and Future Classic policy. :clapping

Footman James covered my two 214 and 216 both 1990 on classic cover 10,000 miles max combined. Anyone else had experience of Footman James, not mentioned on here much compared to Chris Knott.

I used RH Classic Insurance and I only paid £104 including legal cover for my 220GTi for £3000 miles it is a second car so this may affect it a little

Why are we always paying out to protect this one bloke, I've never even seen him out and about so the likely hood of me running him over is less that winning the lottery, damn you Joe :slapme
