Re: 'L' Series 2.0 Diesel - Power Loss

If you leave it unplugged, the engine speed tops out at around 3000-3500 rpm.

Re: Newbie incoming!

Well, here's a 'yes' vote from me for the GTi badge: after all, Ford did an XR3i version of the Escort cabriolet and there's always the Golf GTi cabriolet too! Maybe Rover should have done a more sports-orientated version of the cabriolet. The Coupe bumpers etc really suit it. And the colour of your...

Re: 216 sd3 carb ?

The generic type of your carburettor is probably HIF44, however there are many variants to suit the whole range of engines that these carburettors were used on. You should be able to find the part number of your existing carburettor: it is stamped on a tag attached to one of the dashpot screws (that...

Re: BL/Rover Show, Corby, 1st Aug 2021

I will be there, Paul, but not in a Rover: one of our older 'residents' is having a run out on that weekend (doing the Festival of the Unexceptional too).

I haven't spoken to the organisers about a club stand, due to the lack of interest shown here on the forum. Is anybody on FB intending to go?

Previously discussed in this thread: https://www.rover200.org.uk/forums/view ... yuf#p90084, probably when it was for sale the first time.

Re: The car locks itself with the engine off with me inside!

Alarm ECU (aka Pektron SCU) may be the problem, but have you checked the courtesy light switches on the doors yet?

For any issues with the Pektron, you should contact Paul at Technozen: https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/

Re: BL/Rover Show, Corby, 1st Aug 2021

If you would all like to post on here if you will be going, I will ask the organisers if we could have a club stand.

So, names down by the end of this week if possible, please!

Re: 'L' Series 2.0 Diesel - Power Loss

It is most probably the MAF (mass air flow) sensor which is in the black tube with wires connected to it between the air filter and engine. These degrade with time and the ECU relies on the signal from the MAF to determine how much fuel to send to the injectors. If cleaning the MAF sensor does not h...

Re: Luton Festival of Transport, Sunday 27th June. CLUB STAND!

We achieved a total of 6 on the club stand at one point (after conscripting a 220 GTi owner who was parked with the general classics :wink3 ) and also a couple of other members dropped by to say hello although they had not brought their cars with them. It was good to see you all! I am sure somebody ...

Re: Rover 416GSi - values and what to do

Sounds like a careless windscreen fitter caused that many years ago. I had the same issue with my 420 GSi Turbo (tried to claim on the corrosion warranty at the time, but the workshop manager took one look at the windscreen, saw it was a replacement and that was the end of my claim). Luckily the rus...

Re: Rover 214si 6 year SORN

I can't remember which company it was, but I did hear a while ago that there was a company who would cover young drivers on a classic policy if another family member already had a classic insured with them. I guess they are trying to encourage those who have a genuine interest in classic vehicles ra...

Re: R8 Drivers Door Checkstrap

There should be a bracket (or flange) which sticks out of a slot in the A pillar. I think this is spot welded to the A pillar. I wonder if that has come adrift and fallen into the A pillar panel? The check strap is attached to this bracket/flange with a large split pin (and by two bolts at the othe...
