Re: rover 220 Sli all weather car cover

I had a couple of Halfords all weather cover . Generally it was pretty good but over an 8 year period it did leave a lot scratches on the roof from the movement in the wind. I was looking to replace it with the following before I found a lock up garage but I don’t know how good they are: https://www...

Re: Build Date Plate

My dad brought my mum 5 litres of oil and an oil filter , just after she learnt to drive, for a christmas present(couldn’t find anything else to buy when he went out on Christmas Eve) A very frosty Christmas lunch was had by all🤣 So I know that perils of an inappropriate present. But they’re still t...

Re: Rover 418 Bonnet Cable Snapped

Glad you got it sorted.
The forums great for advice - never had no response to a question asked.
Someone somewhere has usually encountered the problem or can give advice to point you in the right direction.
Great looking car .

Re: Build Date Plate

Thanks for that.
I’ll assume it's the same day as my wifes birthday.
I can think of a lot of joint presents - car mats, car ramps, new headliner 🤣

Just wondered if anyone knows if you can work out the build date for a car? My 400 is coming up for its 30th birthday It was registered in Dec 91 but just wondering whether there’s any way of determining the date of its build at Longbridge so I can celebrate its creation date properly :thumbup I thi...

Re: Rover 416 GTI Auto - Restoring an old friend

Just a brief update on where I am since earlier in the year. Still not in permanent accommodation so a lot of the jobs difficult to complete. New distributor cap and rotor arm fitted. Start-up massively improved so the car now realising it’s a 4 cylinder car rather than just 3 cylinder on start up. ...

Re: BMC & Leyland Show - Sunday 11th July 2021

Just to say I wont be able to make it on Sunday so dont save me a space :mope I was hoping to have new coolant hoses delivered and fitted by now but I’m still waiting for them to be delivered. I don’t trust my temporary fix for the 400 mile round trip even though it’s held up longer than I had hoped...

Automatic Transmission Fluid Replacement

I want to drain and replace the automatic transmission fluid in my 1991 Rover 416 GTI with a D16 engine. The recommendation is for Unipart Transmatic ATFQ for a complete oil change or Dexron II D spec for a top up , which is what I did a couple of years ago. Can anyone confirm the latest spec that i...

Re: Top Hose Breather Pipe Replacement

All parts now ordered for both bottom and top hose replacement . Top hose can be made up mainly from the off cuts from making the bottom hose.Just the 9.5mm breather tube and outlet in the top hose for the breather hose needed to complete the top hose. Went for shiny black colour in the end - the on...
