Rear Suspension Arm Bushes
Hi, I'm just having my 214 MOT'd today, and was advised that the rear trailing-arm supsension bushes are a bit worn/soft(?). I need to get more information when I collect the car, however they were replaced a couple of years ago at the MOT so I'm a bit surprised they've come up again as an advisory ...

Re: Advice on Radiator for 214
Following the inputs, I did look up the Valeo web catalogue and they supply the correct radiator for my car (Part Number 732758, Trade number RM1172, TH297). It states the material used is aluminium. The one I have presently on the car does appear to use copper as there seems to be some green corros...

Thanks for all the tips. I'll start looking around as I will need to replace the radiator in the next year.

Re: Advice on Radiator for 214
Thanks for the advice. The unit I fitted was brand new, however I don't who made it. Do you happen to know the source of your radiator?

Advice on Radiator for 214
Hi, We've got a 1990 214GSi and I'm looking for advice/opinions about replacement radiators. The original Rover radiator gave up about 6 years ago, not leaking but the fins on the core were just disintegrating so it wasn't fully effective any more. I bought a replacement from a local motor factors i...

Re: Fitting new aerial to 214
Had another go this afternoon. I prised off the plastic trim on the inside of the door pillar (quite easy after pulling off the rubber weather seal. That made it a lot easier to get the cable to go down the pillar. It still got stuck somewhere down the bottom. Still got nowhere, so I asked my wife t...

Re: Fitting new aerial to 214
Thanks for the input. I'll have to try again. It's so inaccessable I can't see what I'm doing or even feel where the cable goes. Gash. I'll let you know if I manage.

Fitting new aerial to 214
Tried fitting a new aerail to my 1990 214 this afternoon, but it defeated me. I've had the new part for a month or two and the Haynes manual makes it sound quite easy as does the original Rover service manual I have, so I thought I'd get it done in an hour or so. Wrong! :mad It's easy enough to take...

Re: OIL LEAK HELP!
I wonder if the sandy coloured stuf is rust dust. I've noticed the same where there is a film of oil on the gearbox and engine block on our 214. I think may come from rust on the exhaust manifold which is blown back. Couldn't see anything else in the engine bay that would produce it.

Re: Rover 214 GSI overheating since the big freeze
Yes, I think it was only the early ones. Ours is early 1990, and did have the filler stem. I had leak problems with it fairly early on, long before the hose would need replacement, so it was clearly a weak point, and the replacement hose had eliminated the filler stem.
