Re: 216 XW Honda Engine D16A8 Convertible

I would get the ECU as well if possible, it may have a different ign' advance curve and fuel map. The two heads differ in regards to the cams. The Honda engine workshop manual refers to this.

Re: Rover 216i XW Cabrio Honda Engine DOHC D16A8 1994

That is quite crusty, what's it like underneath? I hope you have some bodywork skills? I saw one the other day where the the chassis rail at the rear trailing arm had gone crispy, I was quite shocked to see such severe corrosion on a R8. I hope you did some due diligence underneath before purchase? ...

Re: Waterpump Pt Number

Thanks for looking that up, I bought a new old stock item from eBay. I can't see the engine build order changing so assume that this will fit as and when needed. The water pumps are interchangeable between single cam & double cam engines according to my research. So I'm guessing UNIPART changed ...

Re: ECU Reset

If you have a persistent smell of petrol in the cabin it might be a fuel tank issue, it's located under the rear passenger seat. That protects the tank in a rear end shunt.

Re: 216 XW Honda Engine D16A8 Convertible

Thank you very much Duncan. I am already busy posting. :laughing2 Your car seems rather late for a D16A8 engine, that is the earlier non-cat DOHC engine that makes a lot of power for sub 1600cc The book figure was 130 BHP 122 is with a cat fitted. It's important to establish the build order because...

Re: Rimmers Early 232 Solid Disks

Those caliper's part numbers you have listed are the later 262mm solid disks - as fitted from serial number 234418. The electronic epc's only go back to circa '92 - I dont know where the cut off is. But - it maybe on microfiche, or the Unitpart EPC (I don't have that one on me) As for refund - Rimm...

Re: Rimmers Early 232 Solid Disks

Non-ABS 214 16v and non-turbo 218D had 262mm front solid discs (and 14" wheels) fitted from their launches in 1989 and 1991. 214 8v had 232mm solid front discs (and 13" wheels) from their later launch. Any car with 13" wheels can't have 262mm discs fitted. I have at least one new pai...

Re: Rimmers Early 232 Solid Disks

They're not rear calipers but front ones, what version of a R8 has solid 262mm front disks?

Re: Rimmers Early 232 Solid Disks

Dear Tim, We are writing in relation to calipers SEG100170 and SEG100180 purchased from us against invoice I1045649-0001 (16.01.2022). My colleague Alan has passed your details onwards to myself to further investigate. We have received your VIN number, however the electronic parts catalogue does not...

Rimmers Early 232 Solid Disks

DO NOT BUY FROM RIMMERS SEG100180 [L/H] and SEG100170 are not compatible with any XW vin number 214 [R8] fitted with 232 mm solid disks and rear drums. They will not issue a refund either, but want me to engage with their joke of customer service. The carrier's are equally unsuitable as well. :cursi...
