Re: Humour
The advantages of living in Switzerland? I'm not sure. But the national flag is a big plus.

Re: Humour
A man walks into a bar, and it's empty - it's just him and the barman. He sits down and orders a drink. He hears someone whisper, "I like your tie." The man looks around but doesn't see anyone. Then he hears "That colour looks good on you." He asks the bartender, "Excuse me,...

Re: Lucas 5AS part numbers and codes
I actually had a look on the Microfiche for the R8. I've hot sets for early and late cars. The YWC001200 part code never appears anywhere, although YWC100213, 214, 215, 216 etc. do appear. These seem to be related to different countries by way of exclusion from the general "Europe" group, ...

Re: 216GSi lumpy tickover and occasional Check Engine light
The flashing LED is signalling a code to you. I've never had to do it, but it's about counting the number of flashes after a longer pause has occurred, which the ECU leaves so you can get ready to count the pulses again. It can be that there are multiple faults, so the ECU signals these with differe...

Re: Help with curious noise
Sounds a good technique. I’ve not changed mine using my tool in the end as the noise vanished when I changed the engine mounts. I have no idea how it fixed it. Must not have been the cv joint making the noise, possibly creaking from the engine mounts? Possibly. If you think about it though, if one ...

Re: Humour
I bought a bird of prey as a pet.
It's absolutely useless. All it does is dance to early 80s synth pop late at night.
I've no idea what to do. My kestrel manoeuvres in the dark.

Re: What paint finish?
Thank you for your responses which are very informative as I do get "pink spots" on the bonnet which polish out for a time. The painting needed to repair my rear-end shunt by the foreign lorry on the M6 is confined to the boot lid, so may I ask another question please? Does the re-paintin...

Re: What paint finish?
In gathering estimates for the repair of my 1997 solid red colour 420GSi the various companies I've approached differ on which painting method applies. Some say it is clear-over-base coat, and some say it is not. They say this is important because they have to "blend out" the colour with ...

Re: Transmission Cooler
Looks like a decent job to be honest. As you said, it's about trying it out to see how things are long term. This has to be the answer for anyone with an auto. And you see autos crop up more regularly as classics much older than the R8, as the box prevents the engine from being driven to destruction...

I've been learning to play silent tennis recently.
It's just like normal tennis, but without the racket.
