Re: VVC into 1.6 Cabriolet
I've seen several of these conversions on here & FB Group pages. But no one seems to want to give up any info, it's as if they either think ' I had to figure it out so you can too' or ' bring it to me & I'll charge you to do something you can do yourself if you've got 1/2 Oz. of mechanical k...

Re: Silver trim inserts in bodyside rubbing strips
I refurbished mine by using a Chrome 'Sticky Back Plastic' :D Warmed them with a hot air gun BEFORE popping from Bumper, this reduces the risk of Tabs breaking. Applied strips of SBP & shrunk wrapped with a hot air gun. Pop them back in whilst still warm, job done. Blue Peter would be so proud :...

Re: Temp Gauge Level
My 1.6 K Series Cabby sits between 1/4 & 1/2, depending on ambient temp, Summer it's closer to 1/2, Winter it's closer to 1/4.
Heater always good.

VVC into 1.6 Cabriolet
I know a few of you on here have done this conversion. So I have a few questions. The VVC Transplant into the 45 has been shelved, the Boy is going for 1.8 Turbo K-series Transplant from a 75 instead. This leaves us with a 'spare' 1.8 VVC, & idle hands :D What we have is a 1.8vvc (143hp) from 19...

Re: VVC Transplant into 45
Thanks for the replies. We have pretty much the complete set-up from a 1998 MGF, 68,000mile Engine, Gearbox, Manifold/Downpipe, Driveshafts, Hubs, Brakes, Ecu & other boxes, Wiring looms, Starter, Alternator all attacked to a Metro Subframe. A friend of ours was going to Transplant it into a Met...

VVC Transplant into 45
Hi All,
Probably been covered somewhere on here, but I haven't found it.
Looking to Transplant a 1.8VVC from an MGF into a 2002 45 currently running a 1.4 K Series with a very noisy bottom end (phnarrr phnarrr)
Any info from anyone whose done this or a link to a thread would be great.
TIA

Re: Vehicle Build Date
Thank you, that's very informative.
Another question, am I right in assuming that the Chassis numbers run R8 production start to finish, irrespective of variant, as my build number 927719 & I don't think there were that many Cabriolet produced

Vehicle Build Date
Was rummaging around some of the Vehicle Detail sites the other day. My Cabbie was registered 10/3/98, but what I found more interesting was it was manufactured 31/12/97. I know its nothing unusual for vehicles to sit around for months between manufacture & sale. What I'm interested in is trying...

Re: Rear Disc Size
I see, so is it the Callipers &/or the Carriers that are different to accept the larger disc & Pads ?
