Rear Disc Size

I recently replaced the rear 239mm discs & pads on the Cabbie. The Motor Factor sent the wrong pads to start with, they were about 10mm too wide, they fitted the Calliper but overhung the outer edge of the disc & the Calliper wouldn't reach the carrier. I assume the wider pads are for the 26...

Re: Complete power failure while accelerating slowly

Had an issue with my Cabbie starting & dying when I bought it out of Winter hibernation last month, it was the Ignition switch.
Car would fire & die instantly, but would run fine if pressure was applied to the base of the Ignition barrel.
Ignition switch replaced & no issues since :D

Re: Rear Caliper refurb

I would agree its lack of use :laughing2 they were OK last year so the less than 200 miles since that M.o.T definitely hasn't helped :laughing2 I left the handbrake off during the Winter hibernation. I will start with the external mechanism before removal & delving inside, & if that fails a ...

Rear Caliper refurb

Got an M.o.T advisory 'Handbrake efficiency' on the rear calipers on the Cabbie today.

Foot brake was a little low, but OK for a pass.

Being a bit 'old school' I always like to try fixing before buying new, is it worth a strip & refurb or is that just a hiding to nothing ?

Re: R8 bonnet won't close properly

If the car ain't moved for a few years the bonnet catch mechanism tends to seize/stiffen (rust) up. Just remove it (3x10mm bolts) & oil & work the mechanism until it frees itself up. I had to do one on a car that had sat for 7 years, it needed to be clamped in a vice, oiled & hammered 😂😂...

It sounds like Vinyl, here's a pic... The Silver has Vinyl & the Polynesian has Mohair :D

Re: What material is roof of 1998 cabriolet.

Vinyl is usually hard & shiny, the Mohair is like canvas material. I use Auto Glym hood cleaner & conditioner on my light grey vinyl hood & diluted carpet cleaner & canvas waterproofing on my Mohair hood. You can use such products as GPC (for stubborn marks) but they must be diluted ...
