Try an old toothbrush to get into all the "nooks and crannies".
Also, soaking in a "biological" soap powder may also help.

Re: Rubbing Strip insert Colours
Leave the bumper in the sun for a couple of hours before removing the strips. The heat makes the bumper and strips much more pliable.

Re: Removing the Lip Spoiler on a 1990 R8
I just happen to have a 1990 216Gsi (R8) hatch lip spoiler on my bench, this is what I can see. There are 5 threaded studs. M6 What appears to be a location point for a plastic clip at each end of the spoiler (mine are missing/broken off). And possibly another location for a plastic clip between thr...

Re: Timing belt on 216 gsi 1991
I have a Clarke Pro 1/2" drive digital torque wrench. It has a torque range of 20Nm - 200Nm. Bought as a Xmas present from Machine Mart a few years ago. It's a nice piece of kit but I do find it clumsy to use and I tend to only use it for the larger torques. I must admit, I rely more on my trus...

Re: Alarm warning light
As Roverlike said the door switches can be repaired once you have them off the car. A small screwdriver is all you need. Prise the switch body apart but be careful not to lose the two springs. You will probably see that the two contact pads are gunged up. Give them a good clean (cotton buds are good...

Re: Project 216GSI - A Light Resto: Front Bumper Repairs
Now you have removed/replaced the rusty screws and bolts and found their locations (eg under the head light), together with "straightening" out any bent brackets you should now find removing the bumper a second time much easier.
Well done

Re: Some Thoughts on the Rover 200/400 R8
Excellent write up. I have run a red 216Gsi as a company car (1989) and three Rover 216 Gsi's (2 red and one blue) since 1992. Back in 1989 I could have had a choice from a similar sized BMW, Audi, VW, Vauxhall etc. I had a look at all of them at the dealerships but I picked the newly launched Rover...
