Re: Removing crankshaft pulley on a 1.6 sohc (Honda) engine.
My Machine Mart electric impact gun would not budge the crankshaft pulley bolt even when the locking tool was in position.
However, I managed to crack off the pulley bolt using a long breaker bar (and locking tool) first then finished it off using the electric impact gun.

Removing crankshaft pulley on a 1.6 sohc (Honda) engine.
Just removed my crankshaft pulley on my 216 Gsi after various abortive attempts. Tried putting it into top gear and standing on the brakes...no joy. Did not fancy removing the starter motor and wedging the flywheel. So made a crankshaft locking tool courtesy of Mr Haynes manual....result!! I am so h...

Re: Giving up
I would agree with the "walking away" sentiments particularly if the car is not required for daily travel. It gives you time to rationally think about the problems. I always try and break down the problem into smaller steps (including thinking time), writing a list of to do's then have a g...

Re: Power steering pump - belt type and size
Many thanks for the replies. After much scratching of heads, I have now realised that the crankshaft pulley on my original non PAS car does not have the necessary V pulley at its end. Further investigation of the parts catalogue shows two types of crankshaft pulley. One with PAS and one without PAS....

Power steering pump - belt type and size
I am currently retro-fitting PAS to my 1990 216Gsi (Honda sohc engine). I have all of the key parts for the conversion but I am missing the drive belt.
My PAS pump has a single V pulley whilst the pulley on the crankshaft is a multi V type.
What type and size of belt do I need?

Re: Head lining
I am having a go myself. Taking the headlining out was a relatively simple job (5 door hatch makes it easier). As been mentioned above the foam under the headlining has turned to an orange "dust". Scraping it off the headlining shell is messy. I have made contact with a company called &quo...

Re: H plate Rover 216Gti - Leak in footwell
Interesting reading. I have recently bought a 216Gsi and noticed that the drivers side carpets were damp. When inspecting the car the electric sunroof was not working and the "emergency" manual winding handle was missing. As a result the sunroof drains could not be checked. On the first we...

Hello
I have recently re-joined the ranks of Rover 200 (R8) owners with a purchase of a rather "tatty" 1990 Rover 216Gsi 5 door hatchback with 80K on the clock. In the past I have had two Rover 216Gsi but they were sold on as part exchanges for "newer" Rover 400 (bubble shape). I still...
