Yes new clutch as well. I am not a confident mechanic and was reasonably happy to pay for a specialist to do the work.
Cheers!

Gearbox
Hi all, just a quick update on the gearbox problem on my red SEi. I got a reconditioned gearbox & new clutch for £300, supplied and fitted. Took it in this morning and picked it up late this afternoon. Drives good as new and no grinding noises as previous! Servicing it on Thursday and hopefully ...

The Viking
I quite like The Viking too, but the only problem is is doesn't specify the 200/400 range, so the name could actually relate to any Rover...
So how about "The Viking - Rover 200/400 Club"...?
Cheers!

Silver SEi
Hi all, here are some pics of my SEi taken shortly after purchase in August 2005. I love it - can't wait for some decent dry weather - it needs a right good wash and polish. http://www.katpaw.f9.co.uk/rover/N161PODfnst.jpg http://www.katpaw.f9.co.uk/rover/N161PODfost.jpg http://www.katpaw.f9.co.uk/r...

Mats
Anyone any idea where I can get some proper Rover mats for my 214 SEi?
I currently have some rubber ones in that were in when it was new in 1995 but they are worn out now. Don't want Halfords specials, but some proper Rover ones.
Cheers

My dad bought a year old Rover 214 SLi, reg J259 DSP. It was red and an ex hire car. We had it for a year or so and I remember it being a lovely car. Then he bought a new 214i in white, reg L143 HCX. This was a bit of a come down because the SLi was much better spec and I remember being disappointed...

SEi gearbox woes
OK......... replying to my own post! It's not the clutch bearings. It's the first motion shaft bearing in the gearbox. Which means the gearbox needs reconditioning. From my research so far it's £350 upwards depending on where I go. But it's worth doing - after all, the car only has 34k on the clock ...

214 SEi x2
Hi, I'm Paul from Wakefield in West Yorks. I own two SEi's, both N-reg. The first is silver - currently has 45k on the clock. I've had it for 18 months or so. It's my daily driver and is a great car. It was purchased from eBay with 27k on the clock for £775. It had already had most major work done o...

Front Pipe & Clutch Bearings
I have just bought another 214 SEi - I say another as I have one already, and have owned another in the past, so this will be my third. Not selling the silver one so I will have two on the go. Anyway, it only has 34k on the clock but it needs an exhaust front pipe as it is cracked near the cat. Also...

Silicone Sealant
I wouldn't use silicone sealant for any boot leaks - I understand it is really bad for paintwork!
Stick with silicone for your bathroom and k1tchen - get automotive sealant from your local motor factors or Halfords!
