Wheel refurb

Has anybody refurbed their own wheels? I've got the coupe going into the body shop in June to have a bit of a tidy up and have been sourcing some bits. I need the wheels refurbed but around here it's generally about £300 per set which is quite expensive. Looking at having a go myself when the car comes back as they are flaking quite badly. It has turbo wheels fitted and I've even looked at other wheels but most used wheels need a refurb too. Any help is appreciated

Don't do it, painted looks pants after only a short time.
A place i use, Rimtech design charge £220 to strip tyres, acid dip, blasted, repair, primer, powder, lacquer, refit tyres, balance and fitted to the car.
And he does an awesome job, just look at my cabby wheels.
Best of all, his turn around time is epic, i dropped off saturday morning and got a phone call at 18:00 same day to say they were ready.

£50 a wheel is going rate around here - but I am in the depths of the black country (Dudley, Tipton, etc.). As Dist said, this should include a complete start to finish job, including checking how round the wheels are whether there are any cracks.
To my mind, the only question I'd be asking is how bright and shiny the powder coating is, as the Rover original finish is quite shiny and the centre caps have to match in a way you're happy with - if you're not going for a colour change.
Paint will be delicate and prone to chipping from stones and gravel on the road. A powder coating will be more resilient.
Having said that, some of the colour options available with paint such as pearlescent and convincing chrome/chrome tint are not available in a powder coat yet. There are apparently good metallic/flake powder coats - and I'd be looking at these personally.

I just got my original Coupe alloys refurbished at Washford Finishings in Redditch, Worcestershire.
They charge £30 per wheel for a shot blast and powdercoat in Sparkle Silver with a top layer of laquer.
I had my alloy spare wheel done too. Then just went along to my local, friendly tyre guys and they charge me £10 per wheel to swap the tyres to the fresh alloys.

and guides on YouTube, weather is nice, ideal weekend project.
