Polished T*rd

Post by RoverRevival »

A friend of mine just arrived with a new car for me to look over. So pleased with himself for picking a minter and paying pennies for it.

This is what i swept up after he left heart broken.

Reminded me the last time 25x brought me his 400, it was a new unit then as well..... :unsure

I have to remain impartial until he decides what he is going to do with it.

This droppage came from lifting the car on its front subframe....solid! No tools needed.

All credit, on the surface you can see some money has been spent but you can’t hide from the monsters....

:oops

Yes it's easy giving good advice to others, I have to admit to buying all my four R8's without going underneath any of em'!

But they don't usually rot as badly as that? :mellow

Just for reference it wasn't a Rover, it was another massively overpriced brand which has an issue with rust :wink3

:laughing
Boy can they rust, mine was a 98 model year and it was just the paint that was rubbish at that point. Water based paint that didn't keep out the weather, it was just the clear top coat that was water proof. Paint and steel quality too went downhill between 1998-2006 ish. Quite common for 211's to rust out subframes, road springs to break and bodies if not treated to disintegrate like a 1960's car by the time they were 10-12 years old!

Difference is when I bough my 400 I knew it was a rust bucket, hence why it was cheap *laughs*. :laughing2

The rust pile I left behind was at least the result of a productive day and got it road worthy rather than a waste of dollar.

Mini? They certainly look like the sort of delicious branflakes old Austins like to create.
