rover 220gsi immobiliser fault ?

I have just bought a rover that has been left standing and the battery is now flat. I have charged the battery but the key fob will no longer work, it is now not programmed to the immobiliser. I can get in the car but can't start it, ARGGH !!! Is there a master reset on this particular vehicle ? I was given advice to press the unlock button on the key fob 4 times to re-programme the fob, but this didn't work. Does anyone out there have any other ideas or solutions ?

Hi Sam
You could try this piece of info I have picked up.
First make sure the remote has a new or working battery in it.
Sit in the car with all doors closed and press the drivers door button 8 times, not too fast, if all is working okay the horn should sound.

sorry, but the info should be ,press remote locking button on the fob 8 times, and not the drivers door as I said before, and then the horn should sound.

Hi Phil
Thanks for the tip, but I eventually had to get a guy out from rover with his computer to reprogram the fob. Owners beware, don't let your battery go flat on this car !!!!!!!!!!!

Sam
I got the info from a friend who programs ecu's immobilisers and such like, he still insists that if you press only the locking button on the fob eight times this will program the new fob or the old one.
