I have a very low mileage 220 GSI Turbo , having problems with the drivers door wiring/ loom plug the connections on the main loom plug have gone green this is causing a number of problems, including the electric windows , can the plug be stripped and the connections be replaced, normally have a locking tab on equipment I have worked on in the past could this be the same on my car ?, if the plug is moved this effects what happens , also my immobiliser had to be reprogrammed recently

I don't really want to cut the plugs off if possible, looks like access would be a lot easier with the door off but that could be a job in it's self

PS tried cleaning the door side pins and main loom but could not really access the connections on the main loom side.

Removing the door is actually much easier than it looks, but I would not recommend trying it alone!

Leave all of the bolts in place, disconnect the wiring and then knock out the tapered pin from the check strap.

On each hinge you will see a small circlip at the top of the pin. Remove the clips, apply some thin oil or spray grease to the pins and then the door will just lift off.

You could try some strong vinegar on the terminals to help remove the corrosion (I have heard others recommend Coca-Cola!) and also use a very thin file. You could also try some fine abrasive paste and work the two halves of the connector in and out. Obviously, whatever you use on there will need washing away before you reassemble everything and then use some spray grease to protect it all afterwards.
