What material is roof of 1998 216 cabriolet made from want to treat it but frightened of buying wrong stuff as lots are not suitable for vinyl roofs.

Originally they were vinyl but people upgraded to mohair once they started shrinking.

Vinyl is usually hard & shiny, the Mohair is like canvas material.

I use Auto Glym hood cleaner & conditioner on my light grey vinyl hood & diluted carpet cleaner & canvas waterproofing on my Mohair hood.

You can use such products as GPC (for stubborn marks) but they must be diluted to avoid staining or bleaching, you can use a medium nail brush to agitate the chemicals, but don't be too rough. After cleaning you will need to rinse well & re-waterproof as the cleaning process lessens the waterproofing effect.

Thank you. I don’t feel any fibre on mine it’s quite smooth with a little firm roughness when
you run your hand over it. I am thinking it’s vinyl.

I can feel a roughness on mine starting to think it’s mohair , Thank you I will study that. Wish I could get photo of my own up.

Got some pictures sent of to Roverrevival
They are very confident it’s mohair and be replaced at a trim shop at a time.

The hood on my cabrio is getting a bit tired. Does anyone know of or can recommend a firm which repairs or replaces them? Preferably near me (East Midlands).
