Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club

Hi,

I have a 1996 Rover 416 SLi Auto. It recently started showing an ABS warning light first thing in the morning. The ABS warning usually disappears for the rest of the day after the first run. A mechanic was going to check for fault codes, but he discovered that there are only 2 wires connected to the ODB socket, and couldn't get a connection to his computer. He thought there should have been about 16 wires?

Can anyone assist?

you don't say if R8 or hhr but the abs plug is under the drivers seat on r8

I've had a look under the drivers seat, and there is nothing under there. I take it that means it's an HHR?

If its a 1996 416SLi Auto it will be a Honda powered HH/R. Production of the R8 416 stopped in March 1995, so it would have to be very old stock to be an R8.

It looks like it's an HH/R. Do you know about how to go about diagnosing ABS fault codes given there are only 2 wires going to the ODB Socket?

I think you can use P Scan for this, you need to talk to John about it. He's scratching his head over his turbo at the moment though.

I should have thought of looking there! Bit far from me unfortunately.

Look online for a mid 90's Honda civic workshop manual, i think these d16 Autos have a lot more honda based electrics than the rover engined HHRs.
