Had what felt like a one in a million encounter on the M62 on this past Thursday (23rd Feb). We were exiting Hartshead Moor Services when a 216SLi in the exact same Nightfire Red and Tempest Grey colour scheme was driving parallel to the on-ramp next to us. Couldn't believe my eyes when I looked in the mirror, never thought I'd see another R8 after buying my SEi let alone one in the exact same colour. (Granted I was in a 214 not the 216) We drove on in a convoy until junction 24 where we got off and the 216 continued on toward Manchester. Felt really special

That being said I've just had a look at the car's history and frankly there is none? It's not taxed and hasn't been since 2006, it doesn't have any stored MOT details and it's not even a 216 despite the badge saying such, its a 214 (unsure exactly what version). Anyone got any ideas as to what could be going on there? I really doubt this guy has been driving this car around since 2006 with no tax so I have a feeling this was a one off trip somewhere. Potential sale travel or going to scrap maybe?

Oh wow you’re right, I’ve swapped the 7 and the 9 by mistake and it links back to another car which also happens to be an r8 rover. That’s probably what confused me haha
