SIMPLY BRITISH CLASSICS - September 24th 2023

A new member highlighted this event at Beaulieu in September and I wondered if it was worth gauging the level of interest in it.

Whilst a few of us could attend as individuals there needs to be a sufficient interest of 10 vehicles for us to organise a club stand at the event.

The event is on the same day as the BL day at Milton Keynes, but for many of us further south, Milton Keynes can be a several hundred mile round trip.

The event at Beaulieu is for Pre 2000 vehicles so will not be available to all our members.

There is an entry cost of £16 for Adults and £8 for a Child. But this admits you to the rest of the Beaulieu attraction, including the National Motor Museum, Palace House, Little Beaulieu, World of Top Gear, Beaulieu Abbey and its grounds and gardens.

I'm guessing this event may appeal to those of us who might live near or south of the M4 but lets see whose interested first.

The link to the event is as follows

This would interest me, getting to Milton Keynes is a long difficult journey from the West Country!

The New Forest is relatively straight forward.

I’m going anyway. If any other Southerners are interested we could arrange to meet up beforehand and form a marque group if not an official club presence.

I will probably be able to make it and it’s on the calendar.
Sounds like a good idea meeting up before hand, perhaps there’s a cafe or coffee place we can met up at , if we don’t make the minimum numbers for a club stand.

Hey Plodder.
Keep in touch - I’ve also got it in the diary.
Beaulieu meets are usually quite good. I have a Suzuki X90 that I take to their ‘Simply Japanese’ meet as well.

That’s great.
Hopefully we will get to few members going and even if it’s not enough for a stand hopefully we can meet up beforehand and arrive and group together👍

Will book a ticket to this as soon as I get a pass on the MOT at the start of September. Not found a suitable meet up place yet. Most of the garden centres, coffee stops don’t open early on a Sunday

Well got the MOT but need to sort a trailing rear brake issue which is means one of the discs is getting very hot.

Should be easily sorted next week, fingers crossed, then I'll get a ticket for the event.

Anyone else up for this!

Looks like I won’t make this event as still got an overheating rear brake.
Dismantled it today and cleaned, regreased it but the problem still exists. Winding the piston back in seemed incredibly stiff. Based on previous experiences the problem is usually the handbrake adjuster seizing.
I’m going to get a new calliper as I don’t have the facility or time to dismantle it etc.
Not sure i can source and fit it for a week Sunday but might come as a visitor instead.
