Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club

Does it exist for the 200 series genuine or compatible?

Well nobody seeming enthusiastic and giving away any tip finally I've decided to take the plunge with a handle which looks convenient and made to match... or nearly with a likely light adaptation:





It's in genuine wood and coming from BMW 3 series E39, E46 and the like. According to the informations given (internal diameter 20 mm and 115mm length) it should (or might?) do the trick. Less than £50 posted from Germany. Fair price IMHO.

First job is to butcher the original handle and take it off.

There is nothing listed in the genuine accessories brochures for a wooden handbrake grip. I will check the parts microfiche tomorrow for you.

You're right: I feel a little impulsive...
Thank you all the same but the only available stuff I've seen so far at the moment are Mini, P38, BMW E39/E46 and Mercedes ones.
Anyway the latter looks a tad too large and the former too... mini!
Hence I thought the BMW one has better chance to be compatible.
Looking forward...

BTW I think to cover the last bit of horizontal black plastic just after the BMW handle hence I've ordered a beige leather gaiter to be shortened and adapted:

It was a pig of a job to butcher the stubborn front part of the handle with a grinder, screwdrivers and pliers, without harming the chrome bit and the leather seats...
But it's just a temporary fix: I'll get rid of that awful bit of remaining black plastic for a matching beige gaiter I've ordered.
I'm now definitely hating grey, charcoal or black plastics!
For information the genuine walnut handle (with a well matching size) is coming from a BMW 3 serie E39/E46 1998-2007 (40€ + shipping from Germany) and the gaiter was intended to be fitted on a Freelander 2003-2005 (£18 + shipping from UK). Just to be adapted now.

Still waiting for my gaiter...

Maybe because of the driving gloves ("In earlier incarnations, Partridge's wardrobe included a blazer, badge and tie, driving gloves, and "too-short" shorts" from Wikipedia)?
But regarding the too-short shorts, never I'd worn them with blazer, badge and tie! Shocking!

I've even painted the moving part of the armrest to get rid of that boring black...
My choice of part (from BMW & Freelander, see above) was a good bet: I've just reduced (cut) a little the low part of the brake gaiter: my better half did the trick with her sewing machine. The black plastic is covered by the beige leather.
