Hi everyone. My local garage has been at it again. Balanced tyres, used impact wrench to put wheelnuts on. I’ve sheared one off trying to undo it. Not happy. Second time now.
Anyway looking at Rimmer Bros these wheel nuts for 7 spoke 15 inch alloys like the ones on my GSI tourer are very pricey and probably suffer the same weaknesses as the originals. They are 17mm nuts with a shiny cover which makes them a 19mm. As rust gets in the outer case can deform and buckle. Poor design.
So I’m trying these I found on eBay - they are the same shape with a loose collar just the same but solid 19mm rather than a covered 17mm.
I think they look good and you get 16 for the same price as one from Rimmers.

Re: Wheel nuts for R8
They look OK I use Ford nuts 60 deg floating taper cone they been on 6 years , I do have original ones ( Sunday best ) but would never let them near a tyre fitter breakers yards are good for ford nuts .
