Nearly robbed by a company of rogues

I'll try to make short a too long story.

At one moment I'd thought I need a starter motor for my 2002 25 1.4.
Then I ordered one from DMGRS as usual.
Only problem as you know I live in France: the starter motor was worth £62 but the carrier price all in all was £25. Quite a hefty price to cross the Channel for so small a parcel, isn't it?

Unfortunately that wasn't all. Nearly at once I got an invoice from FedEx asking for a additional 9.60€ (around £8.35 in July currency) without any explanation or justification. But I thought it was that blasted Brexit taxes. So I paid. And that was all.

Unfortunately it wasn't the end of the tale...
More than one month later I got a second invoice for another additional 19€ (around £16.65 in July currency)!
Amounting the total carrier fare to £50 for a £62 item!!!
Enough is enough!
Anyway very angry I'd a close look at the legal agreements between UK and EU: under 150€ there were NO CUSTOM TAXES!

Either they'd asked a second time for the same £25 (£8.35 + £16.65) or they were heavily charging for another 20% TVA (VAT) already paid plus custom fees!
In both cases that was obviously a fraud made since the beginning in UK.

First I exchanged nearly TWENTY E-mails with FedEx from September to November to no avail: they were stubbornly and dishonestly arguing they were right!
I was harassed by invoices, threatened to be sued and in the end I got a recovery letter from a specialized society.
I was fed up of FedEx but I'd to pay to avoid additional costs.

Then I wrote to DMGRS. They were receptive but waiting for more informations on their side.
At last fortunately I made a claim at Paypal.
In the end after a few exchanges with Scott, Matt and Max, they agreed something had been wrong and fairly accepted to give me back my first £25.
That was very nice of them as a commercial gesture as I was told for a 10 year partnership and I'm very grateful.
I hope they have clearly set the matter now.

Just a warning in the end: don't make any business with those crooks of FedEx for those on the other sides of the pond.
And mind it wasn't the first time I got that scam from them: I'd already been robbed a few years ago by the same... :cursing
