how to repair rear windows

Hi all looking here,
my rear windows winders will not turn and it is so annoying due to the car being a dark colour the heat is unbearable and would reli like the rear windows down, Anyone know what the problem might be?
how do i fix it?
PS. has anyome got some cheap alloys for a rover so i can replace the tatty trims??

We have an ex police car which is like this. I think you'll have to take off the internal door trim and have a look if someone has modified them on purpose. Otherwise look for anything that will stop the window winding down. Our old 214 used to be really stiff as the rear windows had literally never been used!

Mine was the same ... brute force and ignorance sorted mine ...
I also took the door cards off and greased all the runners and PTFE greased the channels that the window sits in .... they don't stick anymore !

I had the same problem with my other half's old 94 414sli.
They had siezed up due to lack of use.
That bad I had to use a blow torch on mild heat and liberal ammounts of 'easing' spray untill they 'released'.
After that everything had a liberal coat of white grease to maintian movement.

No it is very slow and hasn't left eh garage for several years now.. it is a resto project.
