Can anyone give me any info on :scared where to source a head gasket for my K8 engined 214i (96).
So far I have been offered a shim type, and a composite type gasket, both claiming to be the MODIFIED one, and no manufactures name on the packet. I know Land Rover did some mods on the Disco head gasket for the 1.8, but does anyone know for definite the Part number or maker (payen etc), all help gratefully received. :S

I'm not sure if the gasket was ever revised for the 8v engines. They didn't tend to have as many problems as the 16v versions.

The one with the shim is the later style gasket if it is definatly an 8v one. They are available from landrover. The silicone tracked gaskets were revised several times during the K series life. Just make sure that you use steel headgasket dowels though (it should have had these as standard), as the plastic ones are a definate contributing factor.
