Hi,
Today i was doing an autosolo in my rover 216 dohc, i snapped the off side drive shaft, where the rubber dampner is. Is this a common problem or a one off, iv heard off people popping hsafts out but not snapping them in half, wondering if it could have been rust behind the bush, if so would you remove the new dampener.

Thanks Mark

I snapped a drivers side shaft last nite but this was in a banger race! i had a hard impact on passenger side but the drivers side broke, generally the shafts seem quite strong but i always carry a spare.I don't think rust would cause it,more so the forces twisting the shaft.

corrosion and snapping under the rubber damper bush is quite well known but it isn't a common failure if you see what I mean.

If they snap it'll be because of corrosion under the rubber damper in general but they don't snap that often.
