Just spotted a coupe for sale on fleabay described as an "FDH" model. It might be a dumb question, but what's an FDH model....?

There isn't an FDH model.
FDH nickname comes from a group of Coupes which were destined for Japan but never went and stood around for a few years. Eventually Rover decided to sell them off, giving employees a discount, etc. The Coupes destinated for Japan had the full options list available so air conditioning, etc. Due to where they were registered the numberplates end in FDH.

Thats not an FDH. For a start its not a turbo, and secondly the FDHs were are only available in NFR, Tahiti, and Charcoal. None were ever silver. It *might* be a jap import, but its certainly not an FDH. Not that an FDH is any different to any other fully kitted coupe turbo, spec wise.
The full story about the FDH can be read here:

He's just put FDH in the title to widen his target market, but it could be confusing and/or misleading for the uninitiated!

I wonder why they registered them in Walsall rather than Birmingham? (DH is a Walsall plate.)

It was Roversport/Sport and Racing that re-homologated(sp?) them for the UK market (ie removed flare holders and jap plinths etc) so its them that would have registered them, not the Rover Group as it was then, so thats probably how they came to have the DH plates.
