My new cabriolet - 216 SE

For those of you that don't already know, earlier this week i responded to a couple of messages in the for sale section of the site - where a Rover Cabriolet owner wanted to get rid, but wanted to find a good home for her, so was offering her free to a club member.
As luck would have it i was looking for a new cabriolet to replace my tatty high miler, so this morning the latest addition to the family was delivered on the back of transporter.
Here she is in all her current glory
I've given her a quick clean inside and out, topped up the hood fluid and started to compile a todo list. As you can see a new door handle is on the list!
As she stands at present shes got 67k on the clock and seems to be in pretty good shaped, there is some very minor rust to the drivers side rear arch and front quarter but looks like its been caught before it becomes anything major.

The 67k was a pleasant suprise - I'd agreed to have her blind before I'd even seen a picture or had the reg no - that's when I found out she was a 216 not a 214 as per the threads on here. I didn't know the mileage until she arrived with me!
Started on a few little jobs on her this morning - lubricated the hood mechanism, removed a broken link arm (need to fit a replacement - lucky I have a spare in the garage), checked all the electrics, replaced a brake light bulb, and did quick experiment on one of the wings to try and bring the paintwork up (lots of little scratches etc - came up ok but think need some slightly stronger cutting compound and a clay bar.
Need to get her up onto the ramps to check underneath - at present mechanical job list is engine service, Cambelt (last change unknown), new downpipe (blowing from flex) and rocker cover gasket.

Just ordered all parts to give the engine a full service, inc belts, water pump etc including a rocker cover gasket cos she's got the usual weep. So that's my weekend sorted.
Must get her up on the ramps to check underneath - have my motor factor mate on standby for exhaust, brake and cv boots etc!
First thing is to clean / degrease the engine bay - just got caked having a quick peek at what might have been needed - decided given lack of much history to replace all serviceable parts.

She just needs a bit of tlc to make her a great car, and the saving on not having to buy her means I can be a little more lavish with her.
Managed to get out and degrease the engine ahead of getting on with the servicing - looks much better after a quick scrub, also swapped the temp gauge sensor, so have a working temp gauge now.

Mot booked for tomorrow followed by cambelt change, brake fluid change and anything it fails on!
Only problem is she is door handleless on the drivers side, managed to track one down all being well should arrive tomorrow (but after mot). Still she's nearing being on the road now.
Once she's mot'd I've got lots of little tidy up jobs and done preventative maintenance too
