Sunroof parts.

Post by RWilliams »

Hi all.

I've got a 1999 Rover 214, and I'm wondering if anybody could help with part numbers or sourcing parts for my sunroof.
I need the 2 bars that attach the drain channel at the rear of the sunroof (the one that slides forwards and backwards with the glass, and moves the headliner cover part with it) to the sliding part the glass is bolted to.

Somebody has had it apart previously and broken them, so I can tilt the glass, but sliding it backwards will jam it.
I think it's unlikely they will be available, and I'll need to source a 2nd hand assembly, but it's worth a try.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Is the part identifiable on the sunroof exploded view below?

Thanks for the response.
It doesn't appear to be on that diagram.
its a metal bar each side that attaches to, I think, the back of part number 2, and goes to the sliders in the rail on to which part number 16 (rear drain channel) is screwed.
I could probably make some, or get hold of a second hand sunroof I suppose, but I'd rather replace them if anywhere has them.

I put the schematic up because it does basically show what parts are available to buy separately, at least brand new, or new/old-stock.

It may very well come down to you either sourcing a complete new or used sunroof unit to get the parts you need, since they don't look to be available to buy on their own.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Got to be worth an ask in the parts wanted section, or a message to anyone breaking a 200 series on eBay, etc.

Assuming "metal" == steel, couldn't you get them repaired by welding or brazing?
(Also assuming no extreme distortion in the fracture area, which would be risky to straighten afterwards.)

I suspected that may be the case. Thanks for the help anyway.
I'll put a wanted post in the parts section and keep an eye out.

They're not all there sadly. It appears that they broke one in a couple of places so the middle piece is missing.
I'm not entirely sure what metal they are, I'll have a look, but it does seem to be quite a poor quality material. I doubt it would weld/braze very well.
