LR013017 - Brake master cylinder upgrade?

Post by Thomas Loveridge »

Hi all,

I wanted to ask if anyone has used this master cylinder as an upgrade for the 220 Coupe?
I want to replace mine with a 1" bore from a land rover, I've seen it mentioned a few times but I'm not 100% on what bmc to get and I can't seem to find if this one has a 1" bore or not. I would like to avoid having to modify the original piping if possible.

The specs on Autodoc (https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/lr013017) for LR013017 gives the bore as 27mm. The 'P' at the end of the part number you have linked to simply denotes that it is a pattern part rather than genuine LR, but I would expect it to be the same.

That's great to know thank you! It was more that I just didn't want to bend the brake hoses to fit the master cylinder with the outlets on the other side. Looks like I'll be getting this one then.

To add I have also used a defender one on mine. However mine is an abs version

220 gsi turbo

It’s quite a tight fit

But works

That's good to know! How would you describe the brake feel now? Are you running the stock calipers as well?

Yes I've seen the TD5 mentioned, I would just like to avoid modifying the lines. If the ABS ones work I'd rather use them.

Morning did anyone managed to fit this master cylinder as I’ve bought one and bolt holes are not in same orientation as ones on my original rover one
