Hi guys - I picked up a new project last night. It had been on eBay with no bids a fewImage times recently and as it was local to me I went and had a look at it and made a very cheeky offer which was accepted!

The car needs work - new rear sills in both sides and sim work to an arch. I also intend to change the head gasket (I’ll do the full works inlet manifold exhaust gasket, oil rail upgrade, cam belt tensioner and water pump etc.) . No doubt be some more to do.

But it is worth saving a it’s had one owner for the last 25 years and has a genuine 35k with full service history until it was taken off the road approx 10 years ago. Interior will mint up with a deep clean.

Anyway I’ll no doubt be asking questions and looking for bits so please say hi.

Looks a great project - please keep us updated with progress!

If you weren’t aware, sill sections are available 😎 so no need to fabricate.

Thanks - I intend to do all the mechanical stuff myself and actually enjoy doing Rover K series head gaskets!

The welding I was going to get booked in at a local body shop. I’ll check out the sill panels as that will save them time and money over fabricating them.

One done I’ll flood with Bilt Hamber cavity wax and Lanoguard the rest of the car.

I’ll end up spending more time and money than it’s worth , but it saves another Rover which is the ultimate aim!

I did that on an old Citroën and welding seat belt anchor points in, between the inner and outer sill, the fairly fresh Bilt-Hamber Dynax caught fire and we had to use a dry powder extinguisher to put it out. I would hold back on the Dynax and Lanoguard in those areas until your weldings done... :oops

Hah yeah of course the rustproofing won’t get done till the welding is finished :)
