If you think that doesn't matter, then the brand of oil wouldn't either!

Eh?
Well I wouldn't, the R65 with the 1.4 K Series takes 2 Litres of of Total BV that has been superseded by Total Transmission Gear 8 SAE 75/80 which is in mine now.

The Honda PG1 uses engine oil and should br drained every 24,000 miles

I think its only the PG1 box that uses MTF94.
Has anyone got acess to a haynes manual? i think it lists what type of oil is used along with the capacity.

Mt Teddy Bear is correct. Rover include an oil check sheet with the car manual.

Manual gearboxes - 1.4 is 75W/80W gear oil. Also, the PG1 box definitely uses 10W40 engine oil - but I knew this as I have a 1.6.

To match what's in it at the moment you need Total Transmission Gear 8 SAE 75/80.

I wouldn't put anything else in it. Remember it's fitted with plastic caged bearings! :scared so I would stick with what Rover recommended. You can find it on Ebay
