R8 Brake Pad Shims

Post by Mr Teddy Bear »

I'm rebuilding the front brakes on my new 214Si low mileage car and I emailed Rimmer Brothers because the photo of the pads, didn't include all the shims.

The response this morning wasn't the one that I either expected or wanted; the pads only come with those items shown in the photograph and NOT as shown in the exploded drawing, so just be warned! :cursing

So the lesson here is to always view the pictures! :mad there are some shim kits on Ebay but I haven't seen the piston face shim or brake pad shims.

Moral is to look after the originals, if they're still fitted.

Genuine pads come with all the shims as far as I’m aware-however XPart have started putting what seems like any old turd in a black MGR box now…

The NOS genuine pad set I bought from Rimmers a little while back had both the carrier and piston shims, as well as new caliper bolts.
