Sd3 216 correct spark plugs

Post by Liam.d »

Hello, would someone be so kind to tell me the correct spark plugs that are fitted to my 216s. Iv noticed that on number 4 the 16mm fitting is so close to the head casting it’s almost impossible to get on it with anything. Cheeeers

NGK BCPR6ES, BCP6ES and BKR6E.

2000 25GTi

Ahh thank you ever so much,I’ll get some from my local motor factor, also I don’t suppose you know of any good carbs for sale or if they can be rebuilt as mine is a pain it’s still on the auto choke and that can be a pain also it’s running lean at 0.50 CO at idle, I’m led to believe they should be between 1 and 1.5% CO at idle which it won’t adjust to, Iv replaced all the rubber hoses etc and even the temp senders so I’d like to try another carb

Get iridium plugs if you can - I’ve always found my engine to run so much smoother with them in.

Me too, I fitted Iridium plugs (to 216GTi Honda DOHC) and immediately noticed better starting, better acceleration, and smoother running, with no issues at MOT time with the emissions.
These plugs last 100k miles in Honda's view. Also used in F1 cars. Give them a try.

Are the Iridium plugs more expensive than the standard ones, and, if so, by how much?

I’ve only looked for Bosch but I can’t see an iridium plug that would fit your car, but can see a nickel plug under ref FR7DCX.

If you have time to look at other brands, eg NGK, they might do a a suitable Iridium Plug.

If I remember rightly the last set of iridiums I bought were about £36, but well worth the investment, and they last much longer as well as running smoother.

EDIT: I think the equivalent NGK is BKR6EIX
