Have been able to do it quite recently, see my thread on 5 April with three pics uploaded directly and posted inline. By clicking on the "Attachments" tab at the bottom of the page and upload a file of up to 80kB, and then ask for it to be placed in-line.

I've always been able to do that in the past, although not more than three pics per message.

Maybe I'll just need to get a flikr or photobucket account.

Flickr is a more stable user interface but it's a bit weird - you have to make the picture "public" on your account (go through photo-stream option) and you need to choose to download the picture and right-click on one of the size options to get an IMG URL you can embed on this forum.

Photobucket gives you the uploaded picture URL straight away, copies it to the clipboard for you if you click on it, and all pictures are publically accessible. Pity the website seems really slow and clunky and uploads fail half the time.

Yes, I, too, have not posted pics here as I do not have a Flickr or Photobucket account and don't really want one. Surely there is an "attach" option somewhere that would make picture adding simpler. It's the complexity of the operation that puts off non-techies like me. I am sure I am not alone in this regard.

If I'm not mistaken having to host high resolution pictures would somewhat increase the cost of running the forum. I do stand to be corrected though :angel

The site sees external hosted images like a window to the outside world. What happens in that window doesn't effect the website.

Have now set up a Photobucket account so I can post pictures. Seems to work and I've added some pics to the earlier threads on the petrol tank.

Photobucket is really clunky and seems dead slow, but once you get the stuff there it's quite easy to get the links to post in the Forum.

Thanks for the help with this.

It is but it's free and it works :laughing2
