£4k is strong money, but I’m not sure what the going rate is for a full respray these days. On the other hand, R8s get under your skin don’t they and if you love the car then go for it! I’m feeling the love for my SEi at the minute and I’d do the same.

To be honest, I think 4K is probably the going rate in this part of the world. He also said that he would take the doors off to spray the opening as well.

Also, apart from the fact that he’s less than 2 miles away, he’s easy to deal with and I’m confident that he will do a good job. Given the problems (and resulting stress) I had with the company who did the Tomcat 8 years ago, that’s worth a bit to me!

I will report back as soon as the work starts.

Although they’re happy to take photos of the work, I’m welcome to pop in any time to take photos, at least until the 8th of August when I’ll be away for about two weeks.

Work has started! I’m not sure how long it will take, but I dare say it’ll be an anxious few weeks, especially as I’ll be away for two weeks from Wednesday.

Hope the respray has gone well?
I have all that to come but not for a couple of years.
I have have been quoted £3500 for a respray in Devon compared to £5000 for one at the place where I previously had work done.
Got a couple of places left to get quotes and ideas for the work needed which I'll do after the summer holiday.

Hi Plodder. They’ve virtually finished the rubbing down, but they’re waiting for the welder to return from Holiday!

August has been a bit of a nightmare apparently, what with holidays and staff sickness There were only two there when I popped in on Thursday. Given that I won’t have time to put it back together by the Milton Keynes show, I’ve told him there’s now rush if there are more time sensitive jobs.

Ok, thanks. I’ll try and work out how to do that! Do I need to reduce the ones I’ve already posted?

I would imagine so.

Maybe the restoration parts of this thread need to be transferred to the 'Project Cars' part of the forum
